To start reading a book, pick a time when you’re free from other tasks. Choose a comfortable chair and a quiet area to focus on your book. Set up a nice environment.
Pick up self-help books. Why self-help? Because they’re easy to understand and the ideas aren’t complicated. Self-help books are beneficial for gaining knowledge about bettering yourself and they’re easy to follow. The style of writing doesn’t require much thinking versus reading a novel or fiction books.
In my opinion, novels and fiction books are harder to understand. For example, Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children, the sentences and paragraphs were worded in a way that was difficult to understand. It requires a lot of thinking. The author used a lot of huge vocabularies. It isn’t a bad thing to read books like that but it could be overwhelming for someone who has just started.
Fictional books require a lot of energy and attention to detail. They require you to try to imagine or picture what was written. Self-help books don’t do that. I think non-fiction books would be a great start for someone who’s not into reading.
I’m not much of a reader, but I make it a habit to read a few pages each day. Reading blogs is also helpful because blogs are a quick read.
