Is It Wrong To Be Unproductive?

Many times I would feel guilty for being unproductive. My definition of being unproductive is not doing anything useful, not making money, no projects and not making an earning. In society today, most of us feel that we have value when we work self-employed or being employed at a company. That’s the definition of productivity for most people. Work a lot, make lots of money, stay busy all the time and make more money.

Does it make you worthless when you’re unproductive?

I don’t think so. When we are not doing anything useful, that’s the time to be thinking about doing something new, planning our future and do things for fun. I don’t like to take life too seriously that I’m not using my time wisely. Who’s going to judge me? No one. It’s all in my head. As long as I make a goal to do something every day, whether it be taking a walk outside, breathing in fresh air versus sitting around the house all day and not doing anything at all.

Some useful things I think I can do daily whether I’m going to do them or not: read, make art, draw, write, listen to music, practice singing, watch movies and tv shows, chat with someone online, create something, etc.

How do you spend your time when you have free time?
